Foster Care Services
Know Who'd Make A Good Foster Parent?
Foster Care Program Objectives:
- Provide time-limited, transitional, and therapeutic home care for children and youth
- Implement treatment plans which are developed in conjunction with program staff
- Provide ongoing advocacy, including interaction with school districts, caseworkers, court appointed special advocates and children's attorneys
- Support healthy transition to permanent family placements
- Operate year-round, 7 days/week, 24 hrs/day
Proctor Care Program
The Proctor Care Program provides therapeutic foster care services for children and youth enrolled in Morrison's day treatment programs.
Breakthrough
Breakthrough provides an intensive blend of alcohol/drug abuse treatment, mental health treatment, alternative education and competency-based skill development for chemically-dependent adolescents.
Breakthrough Proctor Parents:
- Offer a recovering lifestyle model to chemically-dependent youth
- Teach social and living skills
- Provide individual and family recreation
Hand In Hand Day Treatment
Hand in Hand serves preschool children, ages 3 - 6 years, who have been severely abused and neglected and are exhibiting emotional and behavioral problems.
Hand In Hand Proctor Parents:
- Offer a role model of a nurturing, two-parent family
- Practice positive parenting skills
- Provide therapeutic treatment in the course of daily family life in conjunction with treatment in the classroom
Counterpoint Residential/Day Treatment
Counterpoint serves adolescent males, ages 12 - 18 years, who are acting out, suffering from severe emotional or behavioral problems, and displaying inappropriate sexual behavior.
Counterpoint Proctor Parents:
- Offer a role model for effective family functioning and problem-solving
- Teach social and living skills, especially anger management and appropriate sexuality
- Provide individual and family recreation
The Hand In Hand and Counterpoint Programs are not recommended for families with young children.
Family Foster Care Network
Morrison joined with Albertina Kerr Centers and The Boys & Girls Aid Society of Oregon to form an innovative partnership that is addressing the growing gap between the nearly 6,500 children living in foster care in Oregon and the number of foster families available to care for them.
