Family Intensive Support Services
Family Intensive Support Services
Family Intensive Support Services (FISS) provides rigorous home-based services for youth between the ages of 6-17 and their families. We provide multiple services during the week to stabilize the youth and their family. The precipitating factors for referral to this intervention include a deterioration of functioning within the family, school environment, peer relationships or community. These youth are at risk for an out of home placement or are currently transitioning back into the community. We team closely with the family to support and maintain the youth in the community.
The youth served have been identified as having a DSM IV Axis I
diagnosis. A clinical review determines that their current level
of care/treatment intervention(s) does not adequately address the
client/family needs. FISS is designed as an intervention within
the family, and strives to place the child in the least restrictive
environment possible. FISS is utilized by acute care programs to care
for the client and their family as they transition back into the
community with a goal of avoiding more acute treatment programs such as psychiatric residential treatment.
