Mental Health Therapist
Outpatient Clinic

Position Summary:

The Mental Health Therapist/QMHP position is responsible for providing outpatient counseling services to emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and their families.  Duties include overall responsibilities for treatment planning and implementation and record keeping for each client and family. Position my provide consultation to the team in a specialty area.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Master’s level degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field and a minimum of two years direct experience in a mental health setting providing therapy to children, adolescents and families.  Licensure preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to meet QMHP requirements under State of Oregon MHDD Division’s Administrative rules.
  • Bilingual / Bicultural capabilities preferred.
  • Must value working in a multicultural / diverse environment.
  • Availability to work supervisor / program designated evening hours.
  • Must have a good understanding of and ability to use DSM IV Diagnostic Categories.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of the developmental needs of children birth to eighteen years old.
  • Knowledge of individual, family and group treatment strategies, including traditional and non-traditional treatment/service modalities.
  • Ability to establish professional communication in English with clients and service providers both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in a variety of environments.
  • Ability to effectively handle working in an environment serving clients who are struggling with severe emotional and mental health related difficulties.
  • Ability to maintain complete documentation for charting according to OAR and agency requirements.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and judgment in working with a variety of people.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries in working with others and in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work as a member of a coordinated team effort.
  • Ability to work independently and seek out supervision as needed or required.
  • Ability to accurately read, record and interpret information, including assessments, measures and diagnostic criteria in order to establish client/service provider strengths and needs.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license for state of residency and driving record permitting coverage under corporate auto liability policy.  If driving personal vehicle, must provide proof of auto liability insurance. If driving personal vehicle for work-related purposes 3 times a week or more on average must have and maintain personal auto liability coverage at $100,000/$100,000 level.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens training is required on first day of employment.
  • Must pass criminal history check.

Salary/Benefits:

$30,000 - $32,000 starting/DOE - Full Benefits
