Youth Care Worker Residential Facility Weekends- graveyard shifts Full-time, part-time and on-call shifts available
Position Summary:
The Youth Care Worker provides vocational and daily living skills to male youth in a residential facility. Due to contractual staff-client-gender ratios, we are seeking all staff, but (depending on our qualified applicant pool) male staff may be given preference to meet the terms of our contract.
Education/Experience Required:
Education/Experience Required:
• High school diploma.
• 1 year experience working with children preferably in a residential setting.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish, written, read and verbal preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Ability to working in a multicultural/diverse work environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a broad variety of people including clients, staff, supervisors and management.
• Must be bilingual with ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to work effectively as a team member and use supervision effectively.
• Ability to provide auditory, visual and physical supervision of clients.
• Ability to work in a secure facility.
• Ability to stay calm and mentally/emotionally available in an environment serving troubled youth.
• Ability to organize workload effectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and the community.
• Knowledge of adolescent developmental issues, substance abuse and dependence, delinquency, peer influence, and related group and individual interventions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Openness to feedback and supervision.
• Ability to regularly attend scheduled shift, be punctual for scheduled shifts and meetings, and be in a condition suitable for assuming responsibilities of position.
• Ability to perform physical restraints of clients up to 200 pounds.
• Ability to provide a safe environment.
• Ability to work various shifts during all hours of operation.
Other Requirements:
• Position may require driving an agency vehicle, a valid driver’s license for state of residency is required. If driving a personal vehicle, personal auto liability insurance of $100,000/$100,000, and a driving record permitting coverage under corporate auto liability policy. Transporting clients may be required.
• Blood borne Pathogens training is required on the first day of employment.
• Must pass a criminal history check.
• Complete required program trainings within 6 months of employment and update as required.
• TB testing may be required.
Salary/Benefits:
$14.25- $14.75 DOE and language skills-benefits available depending on minimum number of hours worked
