17th Annual Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner

Choosing to open your hearts and home to children in need is a choice that deserves recognition. In honor of National Foster Parent Appreciation Month, on May 14th, 2012 Morrison Child and Family Services held their 17th Annual Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner. This year’s theme of “The Year of the Dragon” was carried throughout the evening. The event was attended by seventy foster families from all four of Morrison’s Foster Care programs: Therapeutic Foster Care, Breakthrough, Counter Point, and Planned and Crisis Respite Care.
Also in attendance were many Morrison Board members and as well as staff.

The families enjoyed many festivities including appetizers and games in the Chinese Tea Garden, as well as an amazing Chinese dinner provided and served by Panda Express and their management team through their Panda Cares Grant Program. Entertainment for the evening included the EQO Lion Dancers, a magician as well as the Panda Express Panda. Hand in Hand Director, Monica Ford gave the Foster Parents words of wisdom with her Director Ford’s “Chinese Proverb’s for Foster Parent’s”. Five year Service award’s were given to foster parents Melissa Spate - Breakthrough, and Eleen and Gary Martin - Counterpoint. A ten year service award was given to Gordan and Kathrine Schilden - Therapeutic Foster Care. The Foster parents all received a special gift, by opening their fortune cookie to reveal their prize.
